The Artist

It all started when…

I was a little girl and fixated on sheep. I don’t know why, I just was. I have always going to be an artist, just didn’t know in what form until I married my love of watercolour painting and my love of fibre and Watercolour with Wool was born. We have had sheep on our homestead for the past 28 years and even before we had a proper sheep shed because I had found the perfect fibre sheep. Those first few years involved dyeing wool, making felt and going to local craft shows. But then I got busy with the Bed and Breakfast and with raising our children. Art took a back seat for a few years, but it was always percolating in the background.

And then I met Terry Gill, a fabulous generous artist that inspired me to throw open my heart and play with paints again. He is an intuitive painter and my mentor. He made me feel brave and so I started watercolour painting again. I was finding myself again. And one day I had the pleasure of doing a Needle Felting workshop with Sherry Petty another mentor and I was immediately hooked on dry felting. Within a week I had started to combine the love of watercolour and my felting and I had come home to myself in Watercolour with Wool. This was what I was looking for my whole life and what I had been guided to do. I hope you enjoy seeing where my explorations have taken me.
